MINDs CIP

MINDS Camp 2007 – Changing Lives, Making Dreams

For the Minds Cip, we would be required to be camp facilitators for a 3-day, 2-night camp from 14th dec to 16th dec (Think probably need to stay overnight. I'll check tt out if majority are interested). The camp venue is still not confirm, the NUS student are trying to get NYJC campus. They currently require 15 school volunteers (but i would call up to check whether we can get the whole class in if many are interested). Below are the information for the camp. For more detailed info, can email me. I will send u the proposal that ms poh forward to me. I would need reply real soon for this... Thanks...

The camp is catered for the intellectually disabled trainees from the Movement for the INtellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) Gardens School at Guillemard and at Yio Chu Kang. The main objectives of our camp are to expose our trainees to the ways of independent living, nurture them in daily living skills and social skills, and to allow volunteers to better understand their needs and abilities. The trainees range from age 9 to 26 years old, and are from various racial backgrounds. They may be diagnosed with Down’s syndrome, congenital birth defects, autism, attention deficit disorder or some levels of hyperactivity.

we would be attached to each group to take up the role as group leaders to assist in the coordination of the group together with the MINDS Camp Organizing committee and also to help out in the making of props for the games, and help out in the manning of the games stalls during the camp.

The events taking place during camp will include a christmas party (carnival, games, gift exchange etc), swimming session(free n easy swimming, obstacle games, mass games etc) and concert performance as finale. This are just a few of the programmes installed for the camp.

Class CIP

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the late post. :(

Anyway, currently there are 2 available cip projects. One would be mural painting, the art teacher has allowed us to use the leftover paints (Thanks Lucie!), the second one would be a collaboration cip wif nus at MINDs.

a) Mural painting:

1. When to do it?
- nov or dec?
- Would need info on who is traveling and when?
(whole project should take ard 2 days, one day for sketching and one for painting)

2. Where to do it at?
- SPCA?
- If SPCA dont approve then where?

3. How to do it? (need the help of the art students)
- How big a mural to do?
- Designs for the painting? (must depend on the colours available in the leftovers)

For the logistics wise, we would probably settle it later. Haha...

b) MINDS

For this project i would post up the info asap, as ms Poh has yet to send me the details. It would be on 14 dec(If i did not remember wrongly). It would be held by NUS and we would need to be helpers at MINDS.

Do leave comments. As i would need to have a brief plan available before i start contacting the various organizations. Thanks a lot!
